Aerlig Light Winter Jacket: Lightweight for intense winter sessions
For quick winter rides, less jacket is enough. The Aerlig Light Winter Jacket is made exactly for this: wind and water-repellent, with Honeycomb technology that warms without overheating. The Aero Fit is shorter and close-fitting to the body, so nothing flaps even at high speeds.
The Aerlig Light Winter Jacket is the right choice at 8-12 °C if you prefer to control your body climate through layers rather than a thick jacket. Also available for women.

Aerlig Winter Jacket: The All-Rounder for Cold Days
The Aerlig Winter Jacket will get you through temperatures <10 °C. The wind and water-repellent outer material protects against the elements, the internal honeycomb technology provides effective warmth, and the higher collar with a protected zipper prevents cold from reaching your neck.
Three back pockets and a side zippered pocket offer enough storage space for everything you need on your winter ride. Reflective elements on the back make you visible when the days are short. Click here for the Aerlig Winter Jacket for women.

Kaern Winter Jacket: With fleece vest for deep winter
When it gets really cold, our Kaern Winter Jacket comes into its own: the relaxed-fit winter cycling jacket is suitable for temperatures <8 °C. The integrated fleece vest warms your core where you need it most, and the extended cuffs keep wind out at the wrist. More freedom of movement than the Aerlig jackets, for long winter rides on asphalt and gravel. The Kaern Winter Jacket is also available for women.

What distinguishes a winter cycling jacket from an everyday jacket
An everyday jacket keeps you warm while waiting, a winter cycling jacket while riding. The difference lies in four points:
- Wind protection on the outside, breathability on the inside: The wind cools from the front, the body heats from within. The material keeps the outside sealed while allowing moisture to escape from the inside.
- Cut for the riding position: Longer back, longer sleeves, close-fitting. Nothing flaps, nothing rides up.
- Storage space instead of a backpack: Back pockets carry bars, phone, and spare gloves, easily accessible without stopping.
- Visible in twilight: Reflective elements on the back that stand out in headlights.

How to combine your cycling winter jacket correctly
The jacket is the outer layer; underneath it, the system works: a Merino baselayer or the new Thermal baselayer directly on the skin, a long-sleeve jersey as a warming mid-layer. Gloves and overshoes protect hands and feet, which get cold first.
If you don't want to piece every item together individually, the Kaern Winter Bundle, the Aerlig Winter Bundle or the Aerlig Light Winter Bundle are perfect options. Here, everything matches stylistically and functionally. The complete selection of jackets, including vests and rain jackets, can be found under Men's Cycling Jackets and Women's Cycling Jackets. And to ensure your winter jacket lasts many seasons, it's worth taking a look at our Care Guide for Cycling Apparel.

Frequent questions about winter cycling jackets
That depends on the temperature and your riding style. For intense sessions in cool weather, the lightweight Aerlig Light is sufficient; for cold days, you can choose the Aerlig Winter Jacket, and for deep winter, the Kaern with a fleece vest. As a rule of thumb: it's better to choose one layer lighter and work with layers, because on the bike you'll quickly produce more heat than you think.
Our three models are designed for 8-12 °C, <10 °C, and <8 °C. How far below freezing you can go with them depends on the layers underneath and your sensitivity to cold. More important than the jacket alone is the system of baselayer, jersey, and jacket, with each layer having a specific function.
Two layers: a base layer directly on the skin to wick away moisture and provide warmth, and a long-sleeved jersey over it as an insulation layer. You should avoid cotton, as it retains sweat and causes you to cool down.
No, and that's a conscious decision: Our winter jackets are wind and water repellent. They repel drizzle and splashes while remaining breathable, which is more important on the bike than absolute waterproofness. For continuous rain, a waterproof rain jacket belongs over it, which you can find in our Cycling Jackets & Vests.
Closer to the body than an everyday jacket, but with room for two layers underneath. The waistband fits snugly without cutting in, and the sleeves remain long enough in the bent riding position. Choose the size you would wear with a base layer and jersey underneath.
