Cycling Vest or Cycling Jacket: What you need when
Spring, summer, and autumn require road cycling jackets and vests for various weather conditions. We don't offer one jacket for everything, but clear essentials for every condition:
- Cycling Vest (Vest): Windproof for aerodynamics, breathable on the back. It blocks the wind and, when folded small, disappears into your back pocket as soon as the sun comes out.
- Thermal Vest: The lined vest for days below 12 °C. Warmth for the body, full freedom of movement for the arms.
- Windbreaker: Lightweight and windproof, for cool starts and long descents. Keeps the wind out without making you sweat.
- Rain Jacket: Waterproof, for heavy rain.
- Winter Jackets: Lined for the colder half of the year, from the light Aerlig Light Winter Jacket (below 12 °C) to the Aerlig Winter Jacket (below 10 °C) and the Kaern Winter Jacket (below 8 °C).

Road Cycling Vest: The Underestimated Essential
Hardly any item is as frequently used as the cycling vest. It keeps your core warm, leaves your arms free, and weighs so little that you can easily take it with you, even if you might not need it. The 2-way zip allows you to regulate ventilation while riding, without stopping. For fast rides, there's the Aero Vest, form-fitting so it doesn't flap in the wind. Which jacket for road cycling?
A road cycling jacket must do two things: protect you and be suitable for riding. That's why our Aerlig Winter Jackets feature an Aero Fit, a close cut so nothing flaps in the wind. The fabric keeps wind and cold out, the back pockets remain accessible, and the zipper can be operated even with numb fingers. When choosing a jacket for road cycling, the temperature you'll be riding in is the primary factor, not the length of your ride.
Gravel Bike Jacket: Ready for Gravel and Changing Weather
On a gravel bike, the ground and weather change faster than you'd like. A gravel bike jacket therefore needs above all freedom of movement and reserves: The Kaern Winter Jacket has a relaxed fit and leaves room for a mid-layer, the windbreaker weighs almost nothing and is always with you in case the wind changes on the ridge. Yes. The difference lies in the cut, not the area of use: Aero Fit for a fast, stretched position, Relaxed Fit for more freedom of movement and a mid-layer underneath. Ride with whatever you feel more comfortable with.
Tight enough so nothing flaps in the wind, and loose enough to move freely. In the cycling position, what matters is: an extended back, sleeves that end at the wrist, no bunching at the stomach.
